What it Means: Client Side vs Server Side

Data doesn't always flow the same way. Let's talk about two important ways that data flows, and the consequences.

  • Client-side refers to the physical device or "client".
  • The server or backend refers to the actual application, usually living and working out of a cloud or server in a cloud environment.
  • Sending data server-side reduces the need for SDKs (and therein overall size, latency of the app).
