Attribution & Deeplinking Basics

Attribution provides the foundation for deeplinking, but before we can show how deeplinking works, we need to cover the basics. In this short lesson, we'll show how they work and lay a foundation for any marketer to better understand their conversion by way of technical competency.

  • Attribution, in marketing technology terms, means giving credit to a particular channel or source.
  • Deep Linking, by comparison, is the process of taking a user to a particular URL or location of interest a level deeper than the main domain.
  • You can’t measure the source of a company's growth if you don't know where the attribution is being sourced from. This is why it is considered an essential part of a marketing technology stack.
